PhasAGE Expert Seminar with Salvador Ventura | 3 December 2021

PhasAGE Expert Seminar Series & i3S Friday Noon Seminar Series

The last PhasAGE Expert Seminar in 2021 will be held by Salvador Ventura talking about  “Natural and Synthetic Prion-like Domains: Functions and Applications”.

The seminar will take place on-site at Instituto the Investigação e Inovação em Saúde, University of Porto (i3S) on 3 December at 1 PM (CET). The seminar is co-organized with the i3S Friday Noon Seminar Series.

The seminar will be broadcast via Youtube to those who are not able to attend in person. However, online participants will not be able to interact or make questions to the speaker.

Salvador Ventura is the leader of the Protein Folding and Conformational Diseases group Institute of Biotechnology and Biomedicine (IBB), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB)  and is one of the leading investigators of the PhasAGE consortium.

His group uses multidisciplinary approaches to address fundamental aspects of protein folding, misfolding and aggregation. In this seminar, Salvador will describe how a natural Prion-like Domain (PrLD) has evolved to substitute for the function of extracellular globular domains in bacteria and demonstrate how the particular properties of this kind of sequences can be employed to design synthetic PrLDs able to self-assemble into novel functional nanomaterials.

No registration is required, just join the live transmission via Youtube. Find more information about the seminar here.
